Tartan Day, 2012

The celebration included our annual spring hike in the mountains -
this year there were two hikes, in Lake Placid and near Lake George.

The main SASA celebration was held in the afternoon on Sunday, April 22 on the trails at Henry's Woods near Lake Placid. A good crowd participated, including members from as far as Edinburg, NY and Glens Falls, NY. A light snowfall the night before dampened the woods but not the spirits of the group. For the view however, you'll need to look at our 2011 photo.

Our traditional toasts to the Scots were well earned and enjoyed by all. Dinner followed at a local restaurant. More photos are online here.

Thank you to Paul Supley who once again donated commemorative Tartan Day pins for the participants. Paul has given pins each Tartan Day, even when he could not make the hike.

On the official Tartan Day, Friday, April 6, a smaller group of members and friends in the Lake George area met for a morning hike at the Pilot Knob Preserve. They enjoyed a beautiful sunny spring day, a great view of Lake George, and the traditional toast to Scotland. Lunch followed at a local pub. More photos are online here.

We celebrate Tartan Day each April. Check our calendar
next year and plan to join us for a hike and/or a meal afterwards!
